The Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of New Mexico is a vibrant and growing center of academic excellence in the beautiful “Land of Enchantment.” Our institutional mission focuses on advancing health in New Mexico through education, clinical service, advocacy and research. The Department of Emergency Medicine has supported this mission since 1987 through its outstanding research, clinical services and innovative educational programs.Clinically, we serve as the academic tertiary center for New Mexico, the state’s only Level 1 Trauma Center, the only children’s hospital and the safety net hospital for well over a million people.
